the queen says:

odds-n-ends, cut-n-paste

my bags from last week are even cuter in person if that’s possible.  if you need a little  handbag (and EVERYONE *needs* a little handbag), i’d highly recommend madebymolly, i don’t want to give these up!  i keep telling myself i’ll pick out something pretty that’s more my style soon, but i may hold these hostage til that day comes.

i’ve kinda lost my mojo for a while in the crafty department.  i haven’t been in the mood to pick up my stuff, so i haven’t been bothering to take it out.  i did make this while babycakes napped one day and beanie was occupied with new library books:

Wooden Storage Tote Box -Colorful Garden Plant Watering Cans and Orange Flowers it’s ______ paper, if that means something…  i just love the colors and the watering cans…  i love projects that i can work on in steps, things i can set down and not come back to if i have other things to attend to.  this is one of those things.  i was surprised to see how quickly it came together though, with no interuptions!

tonight i’m going to the “cut-n-paste” to play.  they have a crop every friday night from 6p-12a where ladies come to work on their scrapbooks.  i usually work every other friday, but on my off-night i like to go and work on whatever i needs to be finished up.

these are what is on tonight’s slate.  we’ll see how far i get…

don’t think i didn’t notice.

so.  we love dexter.  we love dexter so much.  so much that the night i came home with the dvd of season 1 and a box of googoo clusters (not sold in CT), hunny may have shed a tear.  or bawled like a baby.  or really just said thanks.  you can pick which option works for you.

we watch it first on CBS, and then the DVD later, when we get around to it.   i know that i am enjoying the extended version much more and now i can notice on the network version when something must’ve been cut.  then i can’t wait to see what i’ve missed!  last night was the end of the season on tv, and i couldn’t ear myself away for a second.  i cheated and watched it by myself while hunny is away.  when he gets home i’ll fib and tell him i didn’t see it, so i can watch it AGAIN!  AGAIN!  YAY!  i was creeped out afterwards and had to watch the news to get it all out of my brain, but whatever….

«Dexter» vises av Showtime - kanalen som tidligere har laget serier som «Weeds» og «Sleeper Cell».

BUT.

showtime is so mean.  there were ads for season 2 like every other commercial, and at the bottom of the screen while it was on.  C’MON!!  NO FAIR!!  if i had the disposable income i used to, i’d totally sign up for premium tv for 1 show.  but i’m grown, and i have responsibilities (that word is hard to type.  try it!), and i’ll restrain myself.  but really, the entire 2 hours were like a commercial for showtime.  want more?  buy showtime!  wanna be a loser??  wait a year and watch it on channel 3!  *pout*

look how cute:

http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=8457698  but don’t tell my mom, it’s for mother’s day.  shhh…

and look at this, also from madebymolly : http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=8457697  i bought that for titi, but i told her, so you can tell her again.  i don’t mind.

so much to do, so much to do…

so many ideas…  i’m still working on the big happenings, and keeping it under wraps is harder than i thought…  especially when people ask HOURLY “whatcha doin’?  it’s gonna be big, right?!?”  teehee.  and i’ve got so many ideas about how i want to design things, and how they’re gonna look, and i don’t wanna blabber, i’m trying to keep a little mysetery surrounding it all - at least for a little while!

while that’s all in progress, i’m thinking about how to branch out with  my perpetual calendars.  i’m thinking about making a few mock-ups with the months in foreign languages.  would that work?  sounds cool, oui? si? tree?

and since my stint with the University has been going as well as they are telling me it is (hard to believe, i think they just don’t wanna hurt my feelings), i’m trying to come up with ideas that might interest other schools…  or maybe approach the other campuses of the same university, since i have the design ready for them.

in the meantime, beanie is sick, babycakes is recouperating, hunny is leaving for chattanooga on sunday morning.  everyone seems to have other things going on while he’s gone, so it’ll be 100% MIMI-time while he’s away.  ogoodie.

something’s happening

(and good lord, i’m not pregnant!)

hi kiersten!!

but it’s something big.  we just don’t know what yet.  actually, we do, but we gotta write it all  down and get it all in order before we start to spread the goodness…

til then, go look in my etsy shop.  i am so very proud of this one.  it kinda came to me as i was standing around waiting for inspiration.  since then, i randomly shout “CAKE!” because it makes me happy!  =)  ok, go to my flickr site to see it, too, cuz i can’t work how to just SHOW IT HERE.  i swaer it’s not my fault.  *sigh* technology…  http://www.flickr.com/photos/queenvannacreations/2431316401/

honey, she’s gone off the deep end, she’s quoting west side story…

Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something’s coming, something good,
If I can wait!
Something’s coming, I don’t know what it is,
But it is
Gonna be great!

can’t get any worse….

oh wait, it can…  we all have a stomach bug.  it’s gross.  i’ll try to stay away form the gory details, and giiiirls, they are gory.

from this i have learned a few things.  i think they all revolve mostly around laundry.  back  in the day when i worked in the grouphomes, i’d do laundry for 6 fairly messy adult-type people daily.  that was nothing compared to what i’ve done here in the past 24 hours.

* i will continue to hoard and collect dish towels and washcloths.  for the past year or so i’d toss them out if they were getting ratty and/or didn’t match the current color scheme. but now i’ll stash and hide them on every floor.  i may even buy them from sam’s club in bulk.

* EVERY bed needs more than 1 backup set of sheets.

* a package of pez will dissolve 75% when washed in the pocket of my “mom-uniform”

* i never remember when i have things in my pockets, and i don’t usually check them before i wash.  but in probably my only moment of clarity this weekend, i checked the pocket of my hoodie before i tossed it in the machine.  good thing.  my keys were in there.  if i had washed my car-zappie thing, i would’ve cried.

and how is it that when we all get sick….. babycakes got it first, and was better after about 24 hours.  i got it next, i was sick for about 6 hours before beanie got it, and about an hour later, hunny was felled.  hunny and beanie are still asleep on the couch, yet i have done umpteen loads of laundry, prepared meals for babycakes, and hand washed my entire kitchen floor.  i cannot say that i am well, i’d love to be asleep on the couch too, but alas, there’s stuff to be done.  probably because i’m the mom.

babycakes is awake and squawking, time to carry on!

another day…

today i joked with someone that i might have to take the girls out for a while, cuz if we stayed home, i might find myself with my head in the oven.  probably not that funny, but i was tired, cranky, and just starting the day….  it wouldn’t do much good anyway, i have an electric stove.  it’d frizz my hairmore.  just my luck.

instead, i put a corned beef in there to slow roast for dinner, and stepped outside by myself to do a quick “self portrait thursday“.  my neighbors already know that i’m nuts.  the coffee was hot.  say hello to my dimple.  mar-27-062.jpg

clever girl…

beanie and i were discussing the differences between tissues and paper towels.  i told her that paper towels were for cleaning chalk off her chalkboard, and to clean fingerprints off of glass.  and she told me:

“and a tissue is for putting lady bugs and sneezes in.”

pretty much.  she had another one while we were getting in the car after going to the post office today.  she’s had a VERY runny nose for afew days, and the skin under her nose is all chafed.  she said she wanted to go get some munchkins, and i was thinking about it before giving her an answer.  she told me “dunkin donuts will help my sick face.”  she got her munchkins.mar-17-069.jpg

taking the night off

made myself a big bowl of popcorn, put “best week ever” on the tivo, and i ‘m not doing anything else tonight. this has been a tough week.  hunny has been away, beanie has been on the verge of a cold that kicked into high gear today, babycakes has been EVERYWHERE i didn’t want her to be… and it seems that this afternoon i have cleaned up more messes than have ever been made in beanie’s 3 years of life.

*the runny nose

*the bowl of dora soup someone dropped on the floor

*the dirt spilled in the diningroom when someone tripped on the terrarium-thing full of dirt and seeds

*the cupcakes 2 little girls decided to SHRED while i turned around long enough to grab a napkin

*the hatch of lady bugs swarming my bedroom window.  i would’ve left ‘em, but beanie was freaked the eff out about bugs being in her house.

i am exhausted.  i’ve got my feet up, and a couple of magazines i plan to sit here and read, but i  may just study the insides of my eyelids for a while.
