Easter Roundup

March 31, 2013

I had a plan, I had a schedule, I had Easter figured OUT.  Then I needed an antibiotic for a sinus infection that made me sick to my stomach (like, a LOT) and I lost all of Saturday and a large part of Easter itself.  I am on the mend, I’ll show you what were were working on.

We colored eggs

Little Girl made a bunny paper chain

We saw the Easter Bunny.  The girls were a little bummed that we didn’t dress for the occassion, but refer to the last few posts here where it’s been 40 DEGREES IN LATE MARCH, CONNECTICUT.  The bunny was still happy to see them.

Our weekend featured lots of bunnies of all shapes and sizes and materials – food, games, icecubes in mom’s gatorade…

We had planned to host family brunch at our house, we had started a several-step dessert (more on that tomorrow) and the girls were mad that there was to be no party with mom being under the weather.  We finished making the dessert (and froze some for when we could see the family) and moods were calmed.  Until the sugar kicked in!

this one goes to 11…

so those marshmallow sugar bits i made the other day… last night i was wondering how i could make them even better, and i added a stick and some chocolate.

there’s a lot of half-finished and unfinished projects around here making me a little nuts…  i found some raspberry flavoring at the craft store, so i want to make red lollipops now.

the fairy door i’m working on needs another coat of paint, and maybe some varnish to make the paint less… flat or soemthing…

and this:

i will link to the blog where i got the idea, but not til i finish, because the sample is AWESOME and i don’t wanna wreck the reveal. =D

this is as far as i’ve gotten on that one:

mod podge and yarn and a balloon and a trashbag at nearly midnight on a monday.  good times.

fun for the kiddies

April 2, 2010

just 16 short hours after the tummy bug got ahold of the big girl, she is feeling mostly better and ready for some easter time fun!

the little one says “i feel great, bring it on!”

the past couple of years i’ve put designs on the eggs with white crayon before i give them to the girls to color – it adds a little something, and is a cute surprise for them, but it’s one less step (and less mess for mom, ya gotta give me that!).

i also didn’t have vinegar – poor planning and i am up-to-the-last-minute lately,  so i used white wine vinegar – extra stinky, but i guess it did the job.   the turquoise ones are my favorite, so bright and fun!

easter festivities

April 1, 2010

so!!  babycakes said she would sit with the bunny.  i did not believe her, but “yeah. yeahed” and “sure sured” her.  and she did!!

i only have the pic that the bunny helpers took, we were the only ones there and i couldn’t sneak a couple of my own… so you get the high-five afterwards for now =)

and yesterday evening i had a mom’s night out in north town – it was an amazing plan – moms don’t get to decorate the eggs the way they want when the kids are involved, so we had an evening of dye and stickers and rubberbands and paper tape…

i still have coloring under my fingernails, but i also have a couple dozen eggs “made with love by mom”  =)

there’s so many fun things we do at eastertime, and i got to do 2 of my faves yesterday!!
