Almost-end-of-summer wrap up

August 28, 2012

You know, busy, stuff, things, summer ending, blah, blah….

This happened:

B.Cakes is now really and officially 6.  Wow!

We had a fun party with some of her friends at the local icecream shop, it was the PERFECT place to have a party!

There were tough decisions to be made, but we all got through it somehow…

wooden thread spool Christmas countdown calendars – in styles to please everyone…

all those teeny tiny little numbers, oi!

also, lots and lots of perpetual calendars:

There are so many fun new paper designs, these have been really fun to make.

We’ve got 1 more week til school starts, we are winding down but I have plans for a few more fun things up my sleeve… stay tuned!

Chugging along…

June 9, 2012

Last night I was working on my new About Me page on etsy and I think I said some really nice things about myself.  While looking for pictures to use, I took a little walk down memory lane…  Being on a local daytime television show, craft shows in the rain, cutting and pasting on New Years Eve while watching shoot-em-up movies, and our marathon crafting session making the project for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Seriously, how cool was that?

(that was so freakin’ cool)

It was fun looking back, but it made me wonder what the future holds, what else could possibly happen…  I’m ready for the next adventure!  Til then, I’ll be here cutting and pasting and pointing and bossing.  And waiting.

Valentine Crafts

February 9, 2012

I just wrote a post on my work’s blog that’ll be published this weekend about keeping crafting simple.  I wish I could take my own advice, cuz today I have lost my mind.  I was looking for ideas for the girls to make their class Valentine’s and found all kinds of other things, too!  Like using chalkboard paint on $1 boxes of chocolate from the drug store:

and wrapping tootsie roll banks with paper to make them a little more festive:

ridiculous how easy they are to make, and adorable, too!

I think Big Girl might like to make bookmarks for her friends as Valentine’s, first grade is all about reading.  I made a couple of prototypes that I’ll give to my girls as Valentine’s.  The class ones will be made with smaller clips.

I think my girls are going to love ALL the treats I’ve made today!

I put a few sets of magnets in my etsy shop  too that are a little on the Valentine-y side but work for anyone who likes pink, or hearts, or polka dots, or strawberries or cherries or lots of other things:

Lots of treats for everyone!

end of the summer crafty goodness

August 29, 2011

Did i tell you i made a project that will be on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition?  I don’t think i’ve said anything here yet.  They called on a Friday night and what we made was out the door Monday evening.  My husband (Kingvanna) and Christy and I slaved for about a total of 50 hours, and the end result is awesome.  I am not biased, either.  It’s all VERY exciting, I can’t wait to tell you more (like when to watch!)  More details when they are available!  (I have to get the proper oks from the show people.)  I just wanted to tell you “YAY!” and “squeeeee!”

With that in mind, i’ve been feverishly being crafty over here.  I’ve made a TON of new calendars:

bingo cards and flowers

beatrix potter peter rabbit bunnies

and a whole slew of new Christmas Countdown Calendars:

this mistletoe one is my absolute favorite.

i’ve been working out the details on these a while, and i think i’ve finally got it – Countdown Clipboards, for Halloween, Christmas, and birthdays!

count em all down!

i also have 2 new (and each is one of a kind!) spool Christmas Countdown/Advent Calendars

Advent Calendar - Wooden Spool Thread Holder - Country Holiday Countdown

Advent Calendar - Wooden Spool Thread Holder - Red and Green Holiday Countdown

lots of holiday goodness, for sure!

(i’d love to leave links for these goodies, but i am having some tense times with wordpress right now.  please go to to see it ALL!  and also, to see what Christy is up to!)

which way up?

May 30, 2011

i’m expecting an order of 300 large clothespins any day now.  hooray!  woohoo!  but the order i purchased them for did not come to be.  *ugh*  so i’m planning a giant clothespin blowout in a few weeks.  but i have a question.

i usually make them like the pink one – design on the pinched part, so it’ll stand up and display a picture or recipe card or whatever.  but at craft shows, it seems like 9 times out of 10, people pick them up and immediately flip it upside down (upside down to me) like it’s hanging laundry on a line.  then i explain why i make them the way i do, and many times they get it.  then the ones that don’t get on my nerves by saying it should be the other way.

tell me – which way is up to you, the pink way, or the yellow way?

EDITED TO ADD:  does this change your mind at all?

new and fun scrapbooking for everyone!

May 8, 2011

i made a new product this weekend!

i’ve got a few designs made, they’re library pockets with an enclosure in each one,

4-6 pouches in each.

they’re great to use as little scrapbooks, to document trips, vacations, weddings, babies… with the pouches for extra photos, memorabilia, tickets, cds or dvds, maps, fun fun things!!  i might be working on a couple to give as gifts – they’re going to be great!

i’d love to take some custom-color orders, and i will shortly – once things settle down here – or i can just find a few minutes.  so many possibilities….

have a look here: to see what i’ve got going on!

holiday business

November 21, 2010

so that ambition last night?  gonna clear out my house and make it lovely and livable?  it didn’t happen. 😉

but with good reason, i say.  i was fortunate enough to be listed in the “Etsy Finds” email yesterday, and business picked way up for the past 30 hours or so.  i spent a large portion of my day weeding through orders and packing things up to go to the post office in the a.m.

since this time, i’ve added 3 more boxes to the pile, and gotten 2 more custom requests.  so, yay for my messy house!

and a few more calendars got their pieces all together:

i sure hope there’s just a smudge on my lense, i’m not sure what that white spot’s about…

and i made a couple more of this design in the christmas countdown calendar, it’s a popular one.  but once these are gone, that’s it for the big circles, it was a challenge to get this paper.

it would be ok if i didn’t get any more order tonight, i ran out of packing tape.  i’m usually very well prepared, but this is about a week’s worth of business in one day.  a trip to Staples is on the adgena for tomorrow!  and maybe i’ll weed through the livingroom, too.
