we have a crafter down…

November 25, 2009

christy and her “muffin cuff” craked me up too much.

working hard over here today…  cleaning house for visitors that i won’t even be here to see, cutting and pasting like a madwoman for the big show on sunday, and prepping a few things for thanksgiving…  just the same ol same ol here.

work it, girl…

we had a visitor tonight while we were playing at work – this sweet girl is 9 months old now, and this is her 2nd appearance on my blog.  the first time was here when she was just days old…  she is so sweet and smile-y, just like her mama!  but we wonder – her parents have what some of us consider to be fairly heavy accents from a land far away… will she speak with a brogue when she starts to talk, if that is what she hears the most??

she sure knows how to turn on the charm when the camera comes out! =D

crafty sunday…

i took a class today at NESC, and i am smitten.  i’ve always been intrigued by pam huntington’s projects, and today i finally jumped in.

snowman - wip

there’s all kinds of stuff happenin’ here that i’d never used or even seen in real life – mica flakes, ruffled crepe paper, these cotton batting balls (??)…  ahhh, fun!!!  and now i have a new list of supplies that i just have to hoard, umm, purchase, myself!

i used expanding paint – it fluffs up when you zap it with a heat gun.  and covered it all with this beautiful glass dome.  i had originally taken the class to make a gift for my grandma, but there’ s no way i’m parting with these little cuties!finished project

p.s…. i took a kinda crazy turn driving home and it all took a tumble, yikes!!!  everybody stayed right where i had stuck them, and now the inside of the glass has some little mica flakes static-clung to it, making a frosty look – i love it!!  =D

wip-py wip-py...

working on some things, doing some stuff….  tonight i worked on a bunch of new perpetual calendars – i bought a BUNCH of papers last week at NESC.  the ocean pattern is the famed paper from the Passort layout the store did this summer.  so fresh, love those blues.  the plaid-y one is the new papers from Paper Loft – kinda manly, a little more formal (and double sided – LOVE that!), and i’m loving the rooster/recipe card print.  i might keep it for my own kitchen.  the end products will be in my etsy shop in the next few days, still in plenty of time for christmas delivery!!

live on better connecticut, it’s US!

oh, christy and i had a very large time…. but have you heard the thing about how you should pretend someone is always watching or listening?  well i need to take another lesson in that rule.  i was being fresh and talkin’ smack, and someone heard.  i *think* he knows i was joking, but i still felt like a fool!

ooh! - spt - 08/07/08 by you.

the segment went great, the crafts were fun and the host was funny as all get out (as usual).

and i came home, and the first thing i had to do was change a diaper.  all this glamour, i almost can’t stand it!

odds-n-ends, cut-n-paste

May 9, 2008

my bags from last week are even cuter in person if that’s possible.  if you need a little  handbag (and EVERYONE *needs* a little handbag), i’d highly recommend madebymolly, i don’t want to give these up!  i keep telling myself i’ll pick out something pretty that’s more my style soon, but i may hold these hostage til that day comes.

i’ve kinda lost my mojo for a while in the crafty department.  i haven’t been in the mood to pick up my stuff, so i haven’t been bothering to take it out.  i did make this while babycakes napped one day and beanie was occupied with new library books:

Wooden Storage Tote Box -Colorful Garden Plant Watering Cans and Orange Flowers it’s ______ paper, if that means something…  i just love the colors and the watering cans…  i love projects that i can work on in steps, things i can set down and not come back to if i have other things to attend to.  this is one of those things.  i was surprised to see how quickly it came together though, with no interuptions!

tonight i’m going to the “cut-n-paste” to play.  they have a crop every friday night from 6p-12a where ladies come to work on their scrapbooks.  i usually work every other friday, but on my off-night i like to go and work on whatever i needs to be finished up.

these are what is on tonight’s slate.  we’ll see how far i get…
