Watch This Space

Making a few new products for the shop, based on some old ones.  Now I have some “Countdown to Baby” calendars that work AFTER the baby is born, too – as a I Am This Old type calendar! Yay!

Baby feet! *squee!*

Baby boy zoo animals, LOVE the monkeys.

I’ve had these wooden pieces made for ages, and finally got around to making a few – double decker calendars – months, days of the week and a few other sayings.

And some regular calendars, cool designs:

And there’s so much more to come!

Almost-end-of-summer wrap up

August 28, 2012

You know, busy, stuff, things, summer ending, blah, blah….

This happened:

B.Cakes is now really and officially 6.  Wow!

We had a fun party with some of her friends at the local icecream shop, it was the PERFECT place to have a party!

There were tough decisions to be made, but we all got through it somehow…

Coming up, ALL CHRISTMAS ALL THE TIMEZ!!!

wooden thread spool Christmas countdown calendars – in styles to please everyone…

all those teeny tiny little numbers, oi!

also, lots and lots of perpetual calendars:

There are so many fun new paper designs, these have been really fun to make.

We’ve got 1 more week til school starts, we are winding down but I have plans for a few more fun things up my sleeve… stay tuned!

Chugging along…

June 9, 2012

Last night I was working on my new About Me page on etsy and I think I said some really nice things about myself.  While looking for pictures to use, I took a little walk down memory lane…  Being on a local daytime television show, craft shows in the rain, cutting and pasting on New Years Eve while watching shoot-em-up movies, and our marathon crafting session making the project for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.  Seriously, how cool was that?

(that was so freakin’ cool)

It was fun looking back, but it made me wonder what the future holds, what else could possibly happen…  I’m ready for the next adventure!  Til then, I’ll be here cutting and pasting and pointing and bossing.  And waiting.

Late April, 2012

April 26, 2012

I have to tell you, i LOVED having the girls home for april vacation.  I miss our little outtings and jaunts.  I cannot WAIT for summer!  Monday of April vaca, we went to the daffodil fields.  It was a crazy 86 degrees, an insane temp for April in CT!

We went to American Girl in Boston.  The girls were so sweet and appreciative and just enjoyed being there, they didn’t ask for a thing.  Maybe that was their plan, cuz mom spent a tiny fortune on doll bathing suits and rollerblades and glasses.  I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

And queenie’s been working away, too.  My goal is to eventually get 100 calendars listed in my shop.  That’s a little insane, but no one has ever officially measured my sane-ness.  I’m curious to see how long it’ll take.

I have tons of new papers, released this spring at the Craft and Hobby Association convention, I have plenty of gorgeous designs to use!  I also need to let my customers know that I will be away from my shop the week leading up to Mother’s Day, so if you are planning to pick a pretty calendar for mom or grandma, do it soon they’re ready to ship!

Valentine Crafts

February 9, 2012

I just wrote a post on my work’s blog that’ll be published this weekend about keeping crafting simple.  I wish I could take my own advice, cuz today I have lost my mind.  I was looking for ideas for the girls to make their class Valentine’s and found all kinds of other things, too!  Like using chalkboard paint on $1 boxes of chocolate from the drug store:

and wrapping tootsie roll banks with paper to make them a little more festive:

ridiculous how easy they are to make, and adorable, too!

I think Big Girl might like to make bookmarks for her friends as Valentine’s, first grade is all about reading.  I made a couple of prototypes that I’ll give to my girls as Valentine’s.  The class ones will be made with smaller clips.

I think my girls are going to love ALL the treats I’ve made today!

I put a few sets of magnets in my etsy shop  too that are a little on the Valentine-y side but work for anyone who likes pink, or hearts, or polka dots, or strawberries or cherries or lots of other things:

Lots of treats for everyone!

injured back, pajamas in public, and a few cute crafty things.

January 12, 2012

so i have been told that there are 2 people out there in the real world that wait and search every single day for me to update my blog.  *waves* hi 2 people! join facebook like everyone else in the world and you can see my jackassery all-day every-day!! =D

but in light of recent developments, here i am.  i hurt my back like crazy-wicked-holy-sh!t bad, and i’ve been laying in bed for 6 days.  i am not kidding, this pain is worse than anything that has ever happened to me.  and i’ve birthed 2 nearly 9 lb babies in fairly rapid succession.  the drugs are starting to wear off, and i can kinda type again.  at least, it looks to me like i’m typing, you can let me know if it looks like klingon to you.  yay, drugs!

i became that person wearing  her pajamas in public in town.

and i have been getting all kinds of compliments on my shoes.  i’ve had them for a long time now, and i think they’re adorable, too. =)

this week i was featured on the blog Mod Podge Rocks, and that well, rocks.  if you’re looking for inspiration, or to kill some time and maybe learn a crafty thing or 2, it’s really a great blog.

i’m also pondering what queenvanna’s plan is going to be this year.  last year i really wanted to just keep doing what i was doing and develop a good customer and merchandise base, and this year i’d love to expand some.  if you (my 2 readers) have any ideas of places where my crafts might fit (calendars especially), i’d love to hear some opinions.  i’m pretty proud of how far i’ve come and what i’ve done, i want to share that love! =)  i mean, look how sweet these are!

(this one was made as a special order for a very cool boutique i work with)

and who does not love robots?

i made a few of these note holders, too, just to see how they’d come out.  pretty cute, i think!

my shop is still open and there’s lots of fun things to buy in there.  hubs has been so helpful packing things up to send.

i’ve got a few new ideas up my sleeve, but i think it’ll be a while before i’m back at it full steam.  you’ll have to stay tuned. xo.

reset

October 2, 2011

it’s been a few weeks, i’ve just been… busy.  you know.  i survived a two-day craft show, twice in a row, a couple of sick kids, and a blah, blah blah… this weekend i got to go away to Cape Cod for a ladies’ weekend.  it was so nice just to have a few days for me, and now there’s not much on the horizon.  and that’s great.

i worked on all queenvanna things, i’ve sold a ton of calendars lately so i really needed the time to restock.  and i made a few new things:

the girls had a lovely weekend with dad, though as they were telling me about their adventures, i had to ask “who was giving you supervisement?” there was the story of what little babycakes ate at the chinese buffet (more than everyone else combined) and why she got sick in her bed (see previous adventure at the chinese buffet), and what they did at the town’s 225 birthday, and babycake’s journal from school on Friday:

“WE HAD A DANS PADT”  if you’re having trouble reading that, try it with a Boston accent.  and people think i joke about her accent.  she really has it, even she hears it! =D

miss beanie has been working on her potholder collection.

she is also a selling machine.  her potholders are $3 a piece, and she can count by threes in case you need multiples.  she will calculate how much you owe her.  she tried to sell one to her Grandma, who told her she already had one, remember?  you gave it to her?  and beanie’s response was “i gave you that one, you didn’t BUY it.  you need to BUY one.”  and babycakes has quite the racket going on over there because her sister is very busy losing teeth and selling potholders, and she has more dollars than me.  can i have some dollars, Grandpa? *eyelash flutter*

so here we are, all on track and looking forward to fall in new england.  we’re glad you’re around to hear our tales.
